Capitol physician drops Congress’ mask mandate ahead of State of the Union address

The attending physician for U.S. Capitol hill has just announced that masks are optional. Based on new guidance from the CDC, he states, “individuals may choose to mask at any time, but it is no longer a requirement.” There have been severe debates in the past about mask wearing while in the complex. Some officials have even racked up quite a few fines for choosing not to abide by the mandate. The guidance came after Covid-19 cases in the United States fell to a new all-time low.
