De Blasio Mandates Vaccines For All City Employees

All city employees will be required to get a coronavirus vaccination, according to New York Mayor Bill de Blasio. The announcement came the same day that the White House unveiled its proposal to administer vaccines for children 5 through 11 years old, pending approval from federal health officials.

Under the city’s deadline for municipal workers, it will accept only proof of at least one immunization shot, which must be provided by Oct. 29 – and will reward them with an extra $500 if they get their first dose by then. Employees who haven’t been vaccinated will be required to take unpaid leave until they produce a supervisor evidence of vaccination.
