COVID Could Double Your Risk of Dementia?

There is an estimated 5 million adults in America living with dementia and the number is growing rapidly due to COVID-19. Not so much of the virus but the aftermath and trauma by having COVID-19. Studies show that PTSD contributes to early onset Dementia, especially if not treated.

Due to post traumatic stress induced by the pandemic, many go untreated for PTSD from COVID-19. Important new evidence of how traumatic experiences can impact brain health, and how the long-term effects of trauma may impact the brain in many ways increase the vulnerability to cognitive decline and dementia.

A lot of people do not seek let alone access treatment, due to a lack of mental health care capacity, especially now due to this pandemic.
