State and federal law makers are looking to create and establish survivor registries of COVID long-haulers. Survivor registries where developed after 9/11 as a model to help potential people effected by the attacks. Now lawmakers want to do the same to help millions with often-debilitating long-term symptoms of COVID-19.
The efforts would create data collecting of “long-haulers” and access millions to make “informed decisions” about the care of long-haulers and also help medical providers study COVID-19. Some COVID survivors may be reluctant to enroll in these registries because they will be entrusting the government with their medical information.
