How Long Will COVID Last?

It has been more than a year since the pandemic began and many patients are still suffering from COVID-19 systems even after being “recovered” from the disease.

University College London Hospital created a post-COVID clinic to help those suffering from the aftermath back in May 2020.

Doctors didn’t know they would still be treating over 30% of those same patients. These same patients are still suffering and most of them are unable to work let alone handle daily functions. This unforeseen circumstance has baffled many scientists.

What the clinic did discover is that long COVID patients come and go in “three separate waves”. The pattern begins with a cough and fever, followed by a second set of new symptoms that affect the nervous system and it may taper off.

Four to six weeks after the initial infection a third wave of symptoms appears such as skin rashes, muscle pain, brain fog and even new allergies.

Continuous research and funding are being made to yield some viable treatment to the long COVID survivors. Professionals do know that this is going to be a long process and are preparing for the long haul.
