What Is A COVID Long Hauler?

It’s been over a year since we were made aware of the COVID-19 and so many have been affected by this pandemic in some way. The initial infection phase is four weeks, but experts say that people are surpassing the time frame with lingering effects.

After the acute infection phase of the first four weeks some get better, others fully recover and then there is a second phase. The second phase is known as the subacute phase takes place week 4-12 after initial infection. From six weeks to 12 months, patients officially are labeled as “Long Haulers” due to the chronic symptoms.

The treatment and understanding of COVID and even Long Haulers is continuously evolving and much study and research needs to be done. For now, patients suffering from the lingering effects have resources and support groups to help them during this time.
