In New Jersey, a program has developed services of 17 comprehensive specialties to treat long-haulers. The program is called CARE, Comprehensive Assessment, Recovery and Evaluation program in Saint Barnabas Medical Center. They developed treatments that tailor to each patient.
There are “nurse navigators” which take on several responsibilities in the post-COVID CARE program such as:
· Collecting patient history
· Appointment facilitation
· Research
· Data collection
The CARE program is being patient and constructed frequent follow up care for long-haulers. The medical director believes it is vital to follow through from beginning to end on the recovery process and to better understand the lingering effects that may follow for many who contract COVID-19.
