“The decision has to be made by the city employee,” Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti stated today, “and if they don't want to get vaccinated against Covid 19 by December 18, they should be prepared to lose their job.” The deadline for the city's vaccination requirement was originally today. Employees, though, would have until December 18 under a proposal submitted Tuesday by the city administrative officer to provide evidence of immunization. All city employees will be required to get a coronavirus vaccination, according to New York Mayor Bill de Blasio. The announcement came the same day that the White House unveiled its proposal to administer vaccines for children 5 through 11 years old, pending approval from federal health officials. Under the city's deadline for municipal workers, it will accept only proof of at least one immunization shot, which must be provided by Oct. 29 - and will reward them with an extra $500 if they get their first dose by then.
