Los Angeles Fire Department captain just gave searing criticism of the city’s new COVID-19 vaccination requirement. “I am done being silent on this matter,” said the man, who identifies himself as a Capt. Cristian Granucci, a 31-year veteran of the department. “And so are many of our members.” The new COVID-19 vaccination requirement for city employees was recently approved by the City Council. One of the latest studies showed that people may suffer over 50 symptoms after contracting COVID-19. These lingering side effects are being labeled as "Long Haulers." The rstudy found the following symptoms recorded:fatigue (58%), headache (44%), attention disorder (27%), hair loss (25%) and shortness of breath(24%). Opioid-related overdoses have risen during the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact more people have died from opiod overdoses than from the virus itself. Medical researchers found that COVID long haulers are prescribed opioids at higher rates than those without a previous diagnosis, complicating an already complex situation. Researchers have been following Amy P.'s progress since doctors confirmed last fall that she was a COVID-19 long-hauler; one of a small percentage of people infected whose symptoms persist for weeks or months longer than it usually takes for the disease to run its course. A review in Scientific Reports of COVID-19 patients across multiple countries sheds new light on the lingering "long-hauler" side effects of the virus. Analyzing a total of 18,000 publications, the report focused on data from 15 relevant studies concerning nearly 48,000 patients internationally. In the study, authors estimated that eighty percent of patients infected with COVID-19 would develop long-term symptoms.
