COVID-19 Triggers “Flight or Fight”?

Besides shortness of breath and chronic fatigue, research has shown how COVID can affect other systems in the body. One such discovery is that the autonomic nervous system becomes disrupted as a result of this disease. For example, the sympathetic nervous system governs the “fight of flight” response and this shows that is may be off balance. Triggering this system tends to lead to heart racing and shortness of breath. Many are suggesting that COVID-19 is setting off the sympathetic system which is leading to some of the most common lingering effects. To read more, Click Here

Why Are We Not Listening To COVID Long Haulers?

On 1 May, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stopped tracking crises that didn't lead to hospitalization or death. Its goal was to "maximize the quality of data collected". It assumed that non-hospitalized Covid cases like those are not important, but "mild" - without complications, manageable at home where patients fully recover. Sadly there is a population of people who suffer from COVID symptoms long after infection and many of them are not being considered. These patients are called "Covid Long Haulers" – and not reporting their data is a huge mistake, one that has persisted throughout the pandemic. We know far more about long Covid now than we did this time last year. Research has found that patients suffer from endothelial dysfunction, hypometabolism in the bra...

CDC Is Tracking Long Haulers

Although many patients recover from Covid-19 relatively quickly, clinicians observed a few cases where people take much longer to heal or do not improve at all. These are known as "long haulers" and have been documented extensively even after they are "disease" free. COVID first reared its ugly head in 2019 and it has taken over a year for medical professionals to recognized long haulers as a real problem. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is now tracking this unfortunate phenomenon and uses “post-COVID conditions” to cover health consequences that are present four weeks or more after infection. Air Quality Worsening COVID Symptoms

The Department of Environmental Quality has labeled the air quality in Salt Lake City as "unhealthy." Many people are experiencing long-term COVID systems because of this. Wildfires, pollution from daily activities and weather are all exacerbating symptoms. It's not just COVID's fault; the daily exposure to particulates in the air is causing long-haulers to have breathing problems. A doctor at Intermountain Healthcare said many sufferers deal with chronic lung conditions as a result and Utah’s poor air quality isn't helping anyone. To read the full article, Click Here
