COVID-19 Taking a Toll On College Students Mental Health

“COVID-19 turned the world upside down” and has taken a toll on people’s mental health, including college students. Numerous studies show a spike in depression among college adults due and you can see it in the spike of anti-depression drug refills. 

If a college student contracted the virus or not, the pandemic took a toll on shutting down in-person lectures, lack of social activities and straight isolation last year. Now that we are opening back up and students are beginning to attend in person, severe anxiety is happening as well. 

The understanding of the mental health struggles show that college students are in the need of COVID support. Universities like Drexel, Columbia and UC San Diego are looking into supporting and providing services that will help students and recent graduates with mental health issues led by COVID-19.
