COVID Survivors for Change requests include everything from financial aid for long-haulers to a 9/11-style inquiry into how the epidemic triggered hundreds of thousands of deaths and potentially millions of long COVID-19 instances.
COVID Long Haulers has puzzled doctors and researchers since the pandemic began. They’ve done research to figure out how often it happens among COVID-19 patients, with a recent study claiming 37 percent had at least one long-term symptom three to six months after infection, suggesting millions of individuals all over the world could have long COVID-19.
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) announced in February that it has earmarked almost $470 million to establish a nationwide study group to examine the virus’s long-term consequences, with a goal of enrolling 30,000 to 40,000 participants.
