There have been reports of individuals losing their sense of taste and smell within the first two weeks of contracting COVID-19. Today there is little to no discussion in when it returns and how it can affect one’s daily life.
Over the past couple of months researchers have been analyzing the symptoms after COVID and many of the most pressing ones is brain fog, heart palpitations, blood clots to name a few. We tend to forget how severe it is to not have an appetite due to the lack of smell and taste.
Some individuals reported not getting their taste or sense of appetite back anywhere from 3 to 6 months., which lead to severe weight loss. A Mayo Clinic study says most COVID-19 patients that did lose their sense of taste and smell were more likely young or middle-aged. On average most patients recover from this symptom within a month.
