There are many people that can’t get rid of the lingering symptoms of COVID=19. These are the people with “Long-Haulers” and many are still living with these symptoms months and even a year after contracting COVID-19.
Now, there is a South Florida drug trial that is providing hope for those who are suffering from these lingering effects.
Leronlimab is the new drug being used to ease the symptoms of COVID=19. This drug is given through injections into the abdomen and is believed it will help alleviate some or all of the long-hauler symptoms.
Currently this is a double-blinded trial, which means half of the participants will get a placebo and this is over the time of a eight week period. Every week participants will receive two shots to the abdomen and return four weeks later for observation.
The South Florida trial will only include 25 long-haulers at the moment to observe and hopefully will see results in order to treat more people.
Scientists are still trying to learn if these symptoms are directly linked to the virus or exacerbated from preexisting conditions.
