Return Visits to The Hospital, Common for COVID-19, Study Finds

People are participating in a study in Chicago for Post- COVID-19 who were hospitalized at the beginning of the pandemic. The study was published last Friday and focuses on aging. The study found that more than 20% of the surviving patients who were initially admitted to the hospital during the first month of the pandemic returned to the hospital within four months after their initial diagnosis of COVID-19.

Out of that 20%, 12% returned within the first 30 days.

The study also found that about 40% of the people who returned to the hospital for further treatment had a pre-existing neurological conditions such as epiplepsy, stroke, dementia and migranes.. Many who returned within 30 days has an increase in COIVD-19 like symptoms, like trouble breathing. Others came in with heart issues, bacterial pneumonia, the study found. The study also found that steroid therapy during the initial hospitalization reduced the need to return to the hospital within 30 days.
