There have been several studies that raised concern around those suffering from neurologic and psychiatric complications from COVID-19. These complaints are common within the six months after a diagnosis of COVID.
The following study examined over 200,000 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 and 190,000 patients were not admitted to the hospital but experienced the following systems:
· Mood/psychotic disorders (23.98%)
· Substance use disorder (6.58%)
· Insomnia (5.42%)
· Nerve/plexus disorders (2.58%)
· Ischemic stroke (2.10%)
· Dementia (.67%)
· Intracranial hemorrhage (.56%)
· Parkinson (.11%)
This shows the severity of COVID-19 and the impact it may have neurologically. Many still feel there needs to be more studies to further back the findings in order to properly treat long-haul COVID.
