COVID Brain Fog Can Last For Months

A third of people who had COVID-19 have developed neuropsychiatric symptoms that have lasted for than six months after their initial diagnosis. The Lancet Psychiatry conducted a study in April and found that these symptoms affect all ages and persist after respiratory symptoms resolve. Some patients experience memory loss, lack of clarity and poor concentration known as brain fog. These COVID survivors state that they have to “work twice as hard for half as much” in everyday life. Marines Undergo COVID Long Haulers Study

Our marines are protecting the country in another at Camp Pendleton. Over hundreds Marines are taking part of a two year study of the effects and symptoms of COVID-19.  They are taking part in the CHARM study which stands for COVID-19 Health Actions Response Marines. Our soldiers are getting prodded poked and tested to better understand how Marines can fight off the virus and future virus. Symptoms range from mild to severe and there is no one rubric for which one can diagnose Long COVID.   The World Health Organizations estimates that 10% of  COVID cases still show symptoms past 12 weeks after testing positive for the virus. A recent study estimates that up to 20% of cases have lingering symptoms for at least 30 days and the same study found that 27% of patients had lingering symptoms for more than 60 days.  In the United Sates, there are about 33 million reported cases and Texas has 3 million of those cases. Ohio’s MetroHealth Establishes COVID-19 Long-Haulers Clinic

Cleveland.com reports that Ohio's MetroHealth has created a special clinic for patients who continue to suffer from COVID-19 symptoms after their initial infection. These patients are known as "long-haulers," and now they can seek help. The clinic is directed by Dr. Nora Singer, who says she's seen several patients with symptoms of COVID that lasted for months. Long-haulers typically experience symptoms like brain fog, shortness of breath, depression, and insomnia, but can also have more serious symptoms related to the heart, lungs, and kidneys. Researchers are working hard to figure out what exactly causes post-COVID-19 syndrome and how symptoms can be treated.
