Long-COVID is a condition that is stumping doctors across the globe. Many people have been developing long term symptoms and the cause of that is unknown at this time. A study found that almost 25% of people that were once infected with the problem develop at least one lingering health problem. The most common of these symptoms include pain, trouble breathing, high cholesterol, fatigue, and high blood pressure. A recently published case report revealed that two healthy women returned to normal life after taking antihistamine drugs, daily, to overcome long COVID. Long COVID refers to infected patients that have persistent symptoms that extend past the typical time frame. The report follows a woman that is thought to be one of the first people infected with COVID-19 in the United States. This woman reported that many of her initial symptoms subsided after 24 hours but then returned two months later. She had a relapse in symptoms which prompted more lab work. The U.S. Surgeon General, Vivek Murthy, warns lawmakers about the negative impact that the COVID-19 pandemic is having on the mental health of the younger generation. Many of these young people are having a uniquely hard time navigating through life during this unprecedented time. Due to the uncertainty that comes with COVID-19, teens are reporting that they are struggling in school, struggling with addictions, or even making it from one day to the next. Compared to the beginning of the pandemic, suicide attempts among teen girls has increased by more than 50%.
