Some COVID Survivors Are Being Diagnosed With Severe Tinnitus

In Las Vegas, professionals are learning that there is a growing concern about the lingering impact on patient’s hearing for those suffering from Covid Long Haulers. This ailment is called tinnitus. Studies show that anywhere between 5-15% of patients will get tinnitus after their infection and 3-8% will have sudden hearing loss.  Even though this might be a small number nationwide, the impact on these patients’ lives is still huge and impairing on their everyday lives. Recently Kent Taylor, the CEO of Texas Roadhouse committed suicide due to severe tinnitus after being diagnosed with Covid Longhaulers. There is no known cure for Tinnitus. In Denver health experts have witnessed a common way doctors are treating COVID Long Haulers and it is drawing concerns over the use of opioids. A recent study from Washington University in St. Louis and the Department of Veterans has shown a high rate of COVID Long Haulers  patients are receiving opioid treatments. Managing COVID Long Haulers

After contracting COVID-19 people experience both physical and psychological effects. Doctors are now working on a multifaceted approach to treat the long term effects of COVID-19. Currently there is no formal diagnosis of long COVID because symptoms are variable, ranging and associated with varying degrees of autonomic dysfunction. Thus there is limited evidence on how to treat common COVID-19 symptoms. Management of persistent symptoms require multidisciplinary input and primary care. Patients need to be “heard” and taken serious with physical and psychological symptoms from COVID-19. Marines Undergo COVID Long Haulers Study

Our marines are protecting the country in another at Camp Pendleton. Over hundreds Marines are taking part of a two year study of the effects and symptoms of COVID-19.  They are taking part in the CHARM study which stands for COVID-19 Health Actions Response Marines. Our soldiers are getting prodded poked and tested to better understand how Marines can fight off the virus and future virus. Symptoms range from mild to severe and there is no one rubric for which one can diagnose Long COVID.   The World Health Organizations estimates that 10% of  COVID cases still show symptoms past 12 weeks after testing positive for the virus.
