According to a new study from the University of Michigan, patients that experience severe COVID-19 illness is having a higher chance of persistent symptoms.  These findings highlight the major concern and urgency needed to treat long-haulers. The study found that 55% of COVID-19 survivors had persistent symptoms 30 days post-COVID, while another 35% wee symptomatic for 60 days. The University of Michigan used a random sample of 2,000 adults with COVID-19 onset on or before April 2020, from 13 geopgraphic areas and six counties. Return Visits to The Hospital, Common for COVID-19, Study Finds

People are participating in a study in Chicago for Post- COVID-19 who were hospitalized at the beginning of the pandemic. The study was published last Friday and focuses on aging. The study found that more than 20% of the surviving patients who were initially admitted to the hospital during the first month of the pandemic returned to the hospital within four months after their initial diagnosis of COVID-19. Out of that 20%, 12% returned within the first 30 days. The study also found that about 40% of the people who returned to the hospital for further treatment had a pre-existing neurological conditions such as epiplepsy, stroke, dementia and migranes.. University of Virginia Sees Positive Outcome With Long Haulers Clinic

A medical team from the University of Virginia are making bug strides in COVID-19 treatments, which in turn is also helping many patients suffering from long-term symptoms and the recovery process.  This “long-hauler” clinic was established last June as one of the nation’s first post-COVID treatment centers. To this date they have treated and supported over 130 patients to date with successful recovery. Even the treatment and process is a long road of anywhere to three to six months but in their experience they have seen and supported 70 to 80% of patients to a full recovery.
